Tin Hou (Ma Jou)

Tin Hou (Ma Jou), also known as the "Heavenly Mother," is one of the most venerated deities in Chinese culture. Originating from Meizhou Island, Fujian, Ma Jou was born as Lin Mo during the Song dynasty. Renowned for her mastery of Buddhist and Daoist teachings, she was believed to possess supernatural abilities to control the elements and aid those in peril at sea.

 

Ma Jou is celebrated as the protector of seafarers and is venerated worldwide by Chinese communities. Her birthday on the 23rd day of the third lunar month is a grand festival, drawing countless devotees to honor her benevolence and power.
