Dau Mo
Dau Mo, also known as Heavenly Mother Dau Mo, is a central deity in Daoist cosmology. Her name combines "Dau" (the Big Dipper) and "Mo" (mother) to mean “Mother of the Heavens.” Representing primordial Yin energy, she is revered as the Mother of the Tao.
Her sacred form radiates purple light, embodying the Tao’s essence. Holding the sun and moon in her hands, she harmonizes Yin and Yang, symbolizing the cosmic principle of "Tai Chi." Dau Mo presides over the heavens from her celestial palace, governing the stars and the Nine Sovereigns of the Big Dipper.
Dau Mo is esteemed for her role in warding off disasters and providing salvation, embodying the ultimate Taoist virtues of compassion and balance.
