About the event

There is a folk custom of offering the "First Incense Stick" at the beginning of the year. As the Lunar New Year approaches, specifically at midnight on New Year's Eve, the first incense offered to the deities signifies "First Prize" or "Good Fortune," and competing to offer it symbolizes striving for a smooth and prosperous year.

Lotus Tao Temple holds a prayer ceremony Lunar New Year's Eve, offering prayers to Immortal Lui Jou. As midnight strikes, accompanied by bells and drums, the master of the temple leads participants in offering the "First incense stick," blessing our community with peace, prosperity, and good health in the new year.

The temple will also extend its opening hours throughout the night to allow devotees to offer the "first incense stick" on that day.
